Adtech India Conference

Yahoo! Goodies..., originally uploaded by sarit2006.

I attended the adtech conference in Gurgaon. To sum up the experience - One American, who was attending the conference, mentioned that it felt like 1999 in the US in terms of enthusiasm and energy. This was indeed a high powered conference, with the MD of Google india, CMO of Yahoo and Facebook and many others as the keynote speakers. Many takeaways... but the key one being that India has indeed arrived with 100 million active internet users and growing. Next adtech is in 2012 in Feb. Looking forward to see how the potential of India is delivered in the coming years.

Droplets

Droplets, originally uploaded by sarit2006.

This was taken on my way back to home from office. The rains came as a pleasant surprise to bring a relief from the scorching heat in Bangalore. I happened to have the camera and my colleague, Shashank and I went really trigger happy in taking the pics of the droplets on the windscreen. This is one of the pics from the many that were taken...

South Beach, Durban

South Beach, Durban, originally uploaded by sarit2006.

On a recent trip to Durban, I was doing user research in Umlazi, a township close to Durban. It was an intense one week research, where we started early in the morning and came back late in the evening back to the hotel. It coincided with school holidays in South Africa so the hotel was abuzz with the holiday crowd. This view is from my hotel window, of the south beach in Durban down town. It was a beautiful view but unfortunately couldn’t even get a chance to cross the road and goto the beach. Hopefully, someday… but has to be a holiday not work :)

Aero India 2011

Sarang - Indian Air Force helicopter Aerobatics team
Originally uploaded by sarit2006.

Aero India show 2011. It was an awesome experience for my son- Sid and I. Except that the tickets that we had bought online, did not work and then I had to buy another ticket which was more expensive. All in all, the 3 hour ordeal was worth it since it was amazing to see the show through the eyes of a 4 year old. It was completely out of world, when you see the big machines up close, performing some incredible stunts. Out of all of them, the show by Sarang - Indian Air force helicopter aerobatics team was wonderful. I hear that this team is only one of its kind in the world. Its really hard to do aerobatics with fixed wing aircrafts and its even more dangerous to do with the unstable choppers. Hats of to these guys. Of course, the rest of the show was also amazing including the fly past by LCA - The indian made Light combat Aircraft ( Tejas), F 16, Saab Gripen, Dasault Rafale, Euro Fighter Typhoon, the aerobatics teams of Red Bull and the IAF's Surya Kiran's, which are the always the final act of the show.

New Beginings

After 10 years of wonderful journey at HFI, its time for me to explore new opportunities... here is a quote that I came across which is truly relevant at this stage...

Genuine beginnings begin within us, even when they are brought to our attention by external opportunities- William Throsby Bridges

Look forward to the new adventures!!

Quote that I read on 37 Signals...

Really inspiring quote that I read on 37signals.com

"If you hold out with your vision a little bit, it’s like a cake being put in the oven. The scene doesn’t work immediately, you have to bake it a little bit. It’s unfair, when you begin to create a shot, say, or a scene, that it’s going to immediately be like those beautiful scenes in the movies. It needs a little bit of time to mature. It’s like taking the cake out without letting it be in the oven for more than a minute. Like, oh no, it’s terrible. So you have to be patient, and then slowly everyone starts to see that the ideas are right, or make the corrections. You have to battle the lack of confidence by giving the scene the chance to solidify."

Francis Ford Coppola on directing and collaborating. It’s as true for directing products as it is for directing scenes. Source.
